Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked the most from parents and carers.

What should my child wear?

Your child should dress in comfortable clothing that they can be free to move about in. Ideally sports clothing (no jeans). Trainers are essential.

Can you support children who have special educational needs?

We will always try and accommodate children with additional needs. Please provide this information on our booking form or contact us to discuss this further.

Can my child attend just a few days?

No. The programme is designed so that your child makes continued progress throughout the week. Your child will not receive the full benefits by only attending a few days.

Will my child be with their friends during the programme?

We endeavour to make sure your child is with at least one of their friends during the programme. However, we also believe our programme  provides an exciting opportunity for children to build new relationships ahead of year 7, in particular those in their tutor group.

Can my child bring/use their mobile phone?

Yes, although we do ask that they keep their phone switched off and in their bag during the school day.

Is food provided?

No, every child needs to bring a packed lunch. There will be an opportunity to take part in a cooking activities throughout the week.

Do you accept childcare vouchers?

Yes, we do. Please contact info@thebigstep.org.

When does booking open?

1st March 2024
